Description
Sutter Health California Pacific Medical Center, Van Ness Campus Hospital applied novel design approaches to provide operational flexibility and efficiency in outpatient and inpatient care. The unique integration of a shared universal care model and decentralized care team stations were implemented to support and enhance interprofessional collaboration and patient care. Through interviews, surveys, and site observations, a post-occupancy evaluation was essential in gaining insights into the environmental assessment from staff and patients, as well as the physical design impact on occupant well-being, workplace efficiency and satisfaction. Study findings will inform critical future considerations for similar clinic design and operation models. HSW
