Description

The nature of childhood is changing, and play is changing with it. For kids spending time in the hospital, this transformation is further amplified. Inpatient rooms are becoming the heart of where play occurs and these spaces often don’t meet the patients’ social, emotional, and well-being needs. This presentation will share survey insights (from child life specialists from across the country) on how play is changing in healthcare. Join presenters for a hands-on design charrette to rethink play within inpatient settings. Consider a child’s point of view and recreate the inpatient room to support play for all types of patient abilities, ages, and neurodiversities. HSW
