Description

COVID-19 has had a profound impact on healthcare design. Overnight, healthcare spaces were re-engineered to accommodate a new patient population and to deal with upended normal patient care. The design industry responded to the challenges with creative solutions that addressed many short-term needs. Now is the time to take a step back and reflect on what we have learned since the pandemic began and develop long-term strategies to enable healthcare systems to stay relevant. Join this conversation and take stock of lessons learned (good and bad) and best practices, and plan for healthcare environments that are flexible and resilient for now and into the future.

Tracks:

Learning Objectives

• Identify what operational changes will survive the pandemic.
• Recognize how non-revenue-generating spaces can serve a valuable role in long-term mental and emotional well-being for provider consumers and staff.
• Examine how and where to design flexibility and adaptability into healthcare spaces.
• Identify future technologies, such as artificial intelligence, genetics, telemedicine and wearables, that will impact how healthcare spaces function.
