Description

Clinical innovation, patient preferences, and financial incentives are shifting the balance in favor of outpatient settings for hospital services. To fill the need for outpatient settings, Advocate Aurora Health embarked on a journey to add capacity with expansion of an existing ambulatory and short-term stay facility through aggressive modular construction. Learn how this collaborative team has moved the needle from simple prefabricated elements to volumetric modular field installations. By embracing innovation, gaining stakeholder commitment, and implementing Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA), the team is on its way to surpassing modular goals on this micro hospital while maintaining design standards and sustainability goals.

Tracks:

Learning Objectives

• Appreciate how setting aggressive goals can drive innovation and how the team is approaching the modularization goal for the micro hospital.
• Implement Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) early in the project to support modular solutions.
• Consider how a change in design thinking is necessary to maximize the benefits of modularization in construction.
• Applying lessons learned from manufacturing and field installation of volumetric modular solutions to meet the needs of existing customers.
