Description
Healthcare professionals working in emergency departments (EDs) experience high stress levels and one of the highest rates of burnout among all occupations. This study sought to determine how EDs may be designed to facilitate mindfulness and help healthcare professionals manage job-related stress. Themes derived from a previous study on coping behavior in EDs, as well as environmental factors identified from the literature on mindfulness, were applied in a design proposal for an ED and presented to ED staff members as a walk-through video. This session will delve into participants’ feedback and explore how a mindful design may develop stress resilience.
